Kyle Cecil - September 2018

This month we are pleased to feature Kyle Cecil of Illinois. Kyle has a PhD in Ag Education and has been a contractor with DCI since 2017. Kyle worked in Ag Extension for 20 years and has been involved in the agriculture industry for nearly 40 years. While Kyle's professional life has been rich with ag experiences, he also greatly enjoys his family life, spending time in the kitchen and is a history buff. How did you get involved with DCI?
A colleague of mine just retired from the U of I and DCI had contacted him about contractor opportunities. He in turn had DCI contact me and the rest is history.
What is your background:
I "retired" from the University of Illinois after nearly two decades as an Extension Agriculture Educator. I have a PhD in Adult Education and we have a family farm in Central Illinois.
What is the best thing about being a DCI contractor?
The flexibility it affords oneself in projects. In addition, DCI has very good people who treat contractors like the professionals they ARE.

My wife Staci and I have been married for 30 years. Hannah and Kenneth are our children.

What was your first job?
Baling square bales
What do you do the first hour of the morning?
Coffee first. I then check the weather and turn on NPR.
What are your hobbies/interests?
I love to study history. We also trail ride mules and have a cabin on the farm.
What is your greatest achievement?
My wife and family. Then I would have to say completing my PhD.
What are you ordering for your favorite meal?
Ribeye steak
What is your favorite sports team?
Chicago Bears
What is the happiest memory of your life?
Time with my family, especially my grandfather.
Tell us about your favorite pet?
Goose was a German Shepherd/Lab mix, he was a faithful farm dog to the very end.

I have been a faithful blood donor ever since 9-11.

Normandy, France
What is the best piece of advice you ever received?
You can always get another job, but you can't get another family. Take care of your family first and foremost.
