ADM and its partners, Keurig Dr Pepper, PepsiCo, and Practical Farmers of Iowa, have won the Field to Market: Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture™ 2022 Collaboration of the Year Award for their regenerative agriculture project supporting Nebraska farmers. The award, one of Field to Market’s Sustainability Leadership Awards, recognizes an outstanding collaboration and cross-sector partnership in advancing continuous improvement in sustainable agriculture at the field and landscape level.
Xitavo™ Soybean Seed Kicks Off 2022 Yield Trials As A Top Performer
Xitavo™ soybean seed takes home over a dozen first-place finishes as the first rounds of yield trial results start to roll in. Xitavo soybean seed is owned by M.S. Technologies and exclusively distributed by BASF. So far this year, Xitavo has snagged 12 first place finishes, 118 top 10 finishes and 240 top 30 finishes in the Farmers' Independent Research of Seed Technologies (FIRST) trials. FIRST provides unbiased comparisons of soybean varieties with a mission of improving yield and profitability for American farmers. In the last two years, 17 Xitavo soybean seed varieties have placed first 26 times in the FIRST trials.
New Board Members Announced for National FFA Foundation Sponsors’ Board
The National FFA Foundation announced its new chair for the Sponsors’ Board during the 95th National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis this fall. David Hollinrake, global head of strategy and portfolio management for Syngenta, was named chair for the upcoming year. Hollinrake grew up on a farm in Illinois and has been involved with agriculture his entire life. He received a Bachelor of Science in agriculture economics from the University of Illinois and a Master of Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis. Hollinrake has held progressive leadership roles throughout his career with some of the largest agriculture input companies.
Corteva Agriscience Launches Seed Treatment Offering for Wheat and Pulse Growers
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) granted a label expansion for Lumivia(R) CPL seed applied insecticide, a new seed treatment product from Corteva Agriscience, to offer pulse crop, lentil, barley and cereal farmers utilization of this robust insecticide seed treatment. With this label expansion, farmers now have on-farm treating capabilities to give them more options and added protection where it counts. "This expanded label will help farmers protect even more crops with Lumivia CPL. The broad-spectrum protection against early-season insect pests allows farmers to maximize their yield potential," said David Borgmeier, Seed Applied Technologies Lead, Corteva Agriscience.
Riceland, Purina and Arva Intelligence Form Partnership for Sustainably Grown Rice
Riceland Foods, Inc. and Nestlé Purina PetCare (Purina) have announced a new partnership to incentivize Riceland farmer-members to grow rice using sustainability practices starting in 2023. Purina will invest more than $1.5 Million over four years in the Riceland-Nestlé Purina PetCare Sustainable Rice Program. This investment will help Riceland farmer-members with the adoption of environmentally friendly practices, which often take added time and resources that can make implementation difficult. Purina will receive Scope 3 Greenhouse Gas emission reductions that result from the updated farming practices by participating Riceland farmer-members.
