BASF Launches Quadruple-Trait Herbicide Technology
BASF has introduced Axant Flex herbicide trait technology, designed to help growers get the upper hand on herbicide-resistant weeds. This quadruple-trait herbicide stack provides tolerance to Alite 27 herbicide, BASF’s latest herbicide for cotton. It contains the active ingredient, isoxaflutole, which belongs to the Weed Science Society of America’s Group 27.
USDA Offers Help for Pork Producers Who Were Forced to Sell on 'Spot Market' During COVID Pandemic
The shutdown of processing facilities early in the COVID-19 pandemic sent a shock to the system of the hog industry, prompting some farmers to sell animals at reduced prices wherever they could find a buyer. A new "spot market" program through the U.S. Department of Agriculture will pay $54 a head to producers who sold hogs through a negotiated sale during that time, from April 16, 2020, through Sept. 1, 2020.
Cybersecurity Concerns for Farmers and Agribusiness
Farmers and those employed in the agricultural industry should be mindful of the risks involved with internet security and what they can do to keep themselves and their companies safe. With so much activity being done online, farmers share the same risks as those employed in other industries – sometimes even more so. According to Doug Jacobson and Ally Frickel, electrical and computer engineering specialists at Iowa State University, the farming sector is sometimes targeted by cybercriminals because of farming’s critical function – supplying the food and fiber that humans and animals depend upon.
Tornadoes & Wildfires Ravage Rural America This Week
It has been one week since deadly tornadoes ripped through parts of southern and central states, including Kentucky. While the damage is still being assessed, Mother Nature continues to wreak havoc on other parts of our nation. This week, several states including Iowa and Kansas, have dealt with multiple tornadoes and gusty winds that helped to spread wildfires.
